Making glaucoma medication accessible
The Challenge
Glaucoma is the second most common cause of blindness, yet patient adherence to sight-saving medication is a growing problem. With Bausch & Lomb’s Vizidor range, we knew that in order to communicate the true benefits of their medication to patients, and engage hard-to-reach communities in their eye drop routines, accessibility had to be our primary focus; to develop patient materials with a brand-new look that would ignite conversation and demand, and make a difference to the lives of patients.
MORE Insight
To inform and shape our redesign of patient materials, we engaged key stakeholders such as Glaucoma UK to identify the drop-off points that currently exist within patient eye drop routines. Aligning with accessibility guidelines and gaining insight from accessibility consultant, Corinna Swift, we were able to develop a medication support pack that was truly made with the patient in mind. And we did it in 10 different languages
MORE Creativity
Alongside highly visual, easy-read materials, we also created a tool that would encourage patients to build their eye drops into their daily routine. The patient support pack doubled the expected demand and has recently been part of a successful trial at Liverpool St Paul’s Eye Unit.
